Zbigniew Nosowicz was born on 2nd January 1914. His prewar circumstances are currently undocumented but it is known that he arrived in England in late 1939 and was commissioned in the RAFVR at RAF Eastchurch in January 1940.

From 1st June 1940 Nosowicz was at the Polish Wing at 3 School of Technical Training Blackpool, to await a posting. He went to 15 EFTS Redhill on 18th July for testing and grading.

He arrived at 6 OTU Sutton Bridge from there on 1st August. After converting to Hurricanes Nosowicz joined 56 Squadron at North Weald on 31st August.

He claimed a Do17 probably destroyed and a Me110 damaged on 7th October 1940. Having overshot on landing on 12th December 1940, Nosowicz climbed in Hurricane P3870 but his propeller struck the tail of V7510, flown by Fg Off KH Marston. Both aircraft crashed on Middle Wallop aerodrome. Marston was killed and Nosowicz was injured.

On 23rd February 1941 he was posted to 316 Squadron's Operations Room at Pembrey and he later flew with the squadron, becoming a Flight Commander on 12th January 1942.

He became unfit for flying duties and came off operations on 10th February 1942 and was posted to the staff at RAF Northolt. Nosowicz was awarded the KW (gazetted 14th March 1942) and invalided out in 1946.
