Pilot Hight bailed out of his Spitfire but was unable to deploy his chute. A memorial exists where his plane crashed close to the town of Bournemouth, where a road was also named after him. A new memorial stone was unveiled of the 15th August 2015 at the junction of Walsford Road, Benellen Avenue and Leven Avenue, Bournemouth by the Mayor. Pilot Officer Hight died close to this site.
