Arthur’s father, William Stanley Walker was born in Suffolk, England in 1893. He emigrated to Canada in April 1914 and joined the Canadian army later that year returning to Europe in WW1. He was injured in 1917 and discharged. Returning to England he stayed there until 1921, marrying Elsie, before going back to Canada. Arthur was born in Ontario in 1922.

Leaving school in 1940 without a job Arthur enlisted in the RCAF at the age of 18. He completed his initial training in Canada and became a Sergeant pilot in September 1941. He then travelled to England for more training at 61 OTU. He was posted to 416 Squadron on 31 March 1942 but spent the first two weeks of April with 57 OTU joining 416 at Peterhead in Scotland on the 14th, being promoted to Flight Sergeant.

His first operational flight in a Spitfire was on the 23rd and his last was on the 27th. It is believed that the cause of his crash was oxygen failure and the plane spun in to the ground out of control at Tillymair Farm, Kirkton of Tough, west of Aberdeen. Arthur was killed in the crash and buried at Dyce Old Churchyard on the 29th.
