Bio & Interests

During his 32 years in the RAF, Ron Powell worked on Vulcan nuclear bombers; flew C-130s; became a flying instructor; commanded two training squadrons and a Harrier detachment in southern Italy; completed two tours in MOD and commanded the RAF Selection Centre and a flying training unit. Since, he has published an illustrated history of the Battle of Britain; a novel, Wings Over Summer, on the same subject; a sequel, Wings Over Malta; and two volumes of memoir Shropshire Blue, the first, Preparation For Flight, about his early years in the RAF, the second, On The Buffet, about his pilot training.
