Enlisted RAAF 1940-06-23. 1SFTS (RCAF) then 57 OTU Hawarden. 602 RAF and 249 RAF Squadrons. Flew 44 sorties 1941-42 over Northern France. Credited with one Bf 109F destroyed on 1941-08-03, S Marquise, France at 1920 hrs. One of fifteen pilots on Operation Spotter, flying first Spitfires off HMS Eagle to Malta on 1942-03-07. DOW 1942-03-10, shot down by Bf 109 flown by Hptm. Karl-Heinz Krahl, Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG 3 for his 19th victory (first Spitfire loss at Malta), baled, parachute failed (altitude too low), died of injuries in hospital (No.90 British General Hospital, Mtarfa). Spitfire AB343 crashed SW Siggiewi nr Il-Fawwara, Malta, two crash sites (main fuselage and tail section). Buried Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Valetta, Malta, age 20 years.
