Enlisted RAAF 1940-06-23. 1SFTS (RCAF) then 57 OTU Hawarden. 602 RAF and 249 RAF Squadrons. Flew 44 sorties 1941-42 over northern France. Credited with one Bf 109F destroyed on 1941-08-03, S Marquise, France at 1920 hrs. One of fifteen pilots on Operation Spotter, flying first Spitfires off HMS Eagle to Malta on 1942-03-07. KIA 1942-03-10, shot down by Bf 109 flown by Hptm. Karl-Heinz Krahl, Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG 3 for his 19th victory (first Spitfire loss at Malta), baled, parachute failed (cause unknown), died of injuries in hospital. Spitfire AB343 crashed SW Siggiewi, Malta. Buried Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Valetta, Malta, age 21 years.
