František Doležal DSO DFC
He was the first Czech to saddle the legendary Spitfire, shooting down Germans over France and Britain. He fought and won alongside the Belgians, French and Americans and was also the first Czechoslovak Western pilot to enter his liberated homeland. But fate was kind and cruel to him: although he happily lived to see the end of the war, he died only a few months after it - and quite possibly through the fault of his countrymen.
