Presumed dead following high level photographic reconnaissance sortie to AUGSBURG area (Munich), Germany on 9 February 1945. At 1511 hrs., reported "my engine has gone haywire and I am baling out" over the Gulf of Venice. Air Sea Rescue searches unsuccessful but an oil patch and new dinghy seen "but no particular significance can be attached to this as three other aircraft were down in the same vicinity during the same afternoon" (Source: Circumstantial Report On Missing Aircraft, MK. XIX RM640 And Pilot - F/O P.G. CAMERON (AUS. 400112 Missing)).
Promoted to Flight Lieutenant with retrospective effect from 8 February 1945
