Robert Andrew Buckham was a Spitfire pilot with 416 Squadron. He was later posted to Digby as Wing Gunnery Officer. He earned two DFCs (the British and American) in recognition of his 4 1/2 enemy aircraft destroyed and two damaged plus six locomotives and other targets shot up in ground attacks. He later commanded 403 Squadron and added a Bar to his DFC.
He was killed in a flying accident on January 15, 1947 while in command of RCAF Whitehorse near Marsh Lake aboard Beechcraft Expeditor Mk11 1394. '
