The Squadron took off on an armed reconnaissance over HAGUE/DEN HELDER/AMSTERDAM/UTRECHT. 11 Barges, 3 M.E.T. lorries, 1 M.E.T. with trailer attached attacked and strikes seen and 1 M.E.T. bowser attacked but no results observed. 1 M.E.T. bus was attacked and seen to catch fire. No enemy aircraft seen nor any flak. Whilst on way out F/O MANDERS and F/O WOLTERS collided in the air whilst climbing through cloud in line astern. F/O MANDERS baled out and landed safely but F/O WOLTERS crashed and was killed. The accident took place over KENT.
