Ray Bellamy was commissioned P/O in the RAFVR 1/11/41 (Gazetted 20/01/42)
He joined 232 Sqn in Llanbedr in May 1942, shortly after its re-formation
Flew with the sqn through its various summer postings - Turnhouse, Gravesend (for Op Jubilee), Debden (from 20/08/42)
Promoted F/O 1/10/42
Sqn posted to Algeria Dec 42. Bellamy and other pilots were held in Gibraltar on ferrying duties, but eventually rejoined the sqn in Philippville at the end of December
Sqn moved though Bone/Tingley, then Souk-el-Khemis 15/03/43, sharing Victoria airfield with 154
Was promoted to Acting Fl/Lt 18/04/43 but was shot down and killed the next day on a freelance sweep near Pont du Fahs
Was officially Gazetted Fl/Lt poshumously (Gazette 5/11/43)
