Comments / Questions:by: Red Dragon Flt Lt Lawrence McMillan 400 (RCAF) Squadron 2017-04-21 00:59:04 At 17:00 Flt Lt Wigle saw his no. 2 explode in mid air in a large sheet of flames and plunge into the sea. At the same time Flt Lt Wigle observed machine gun strikes in the sea. He climbed to 4500 feet and circled the position but could not observe any debris whatsoever. Only a oil slick could be seen on the water. Danish fishermen sailed to the site but all that could be seen was an oil slick on the surface. Neither the aircraft nor Pilot Flt Lt Lawrence McMillan has ever been found Runnymede Memorial Panel 278. reply |
