Comments / Questions:by: Red Dragon Fg Off L S Trail 2017-04-09 22:15:17 229 Squadron pilot. 11 January 1945. He and Flt Sgt B Sergeant took off for a Jim Crow sortie Teschelling/Den Helder and to the north of the Hague. It started snowing lightly. Flt Sgt Sergeant eased up on engine power so Fg Off Trail could make the crossover turn below them so that would put them on a course for Den Helder. Flt Sgt Sergeant watched as his No 2 to reappear below him. He glimpsed Trail's aircraft diving into the sea and blowing up. He circled a few times to see if there was any sign of Fg Off Trail but saw nothing. Runnymede Memorial Panel 268. reply |
