UPDATE

Stanley Ernest Messum qualified as a Sergeant pilot under R/76772 before being commissioned in 1943.

From Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. Killed in Action Apr 6/45 age 29. #443 Hornet Squadron (Our Sting Is Death.) F/O Messum was flying Spitfire aircraft #MS 670 on a patrol north-west of Lingen, Germany when his aircraft was hit by flak. F/O Messum reported by r/t that he was going to bail out but was not seen to do so. The aircraft was seen to crash and blow up on a roadside south of Mundersum, Germany. Flying Officer Pilot Messum was buried in a field adjacent to the crash, exhumed, and reburied in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Kleve, Germany.
