Dennis Humbert Fox-Male was born on 28th June 1915 at Oxshott, Surrey. He was educated at Wellington College and Trinity College, Oxford, where he read Jurisprudence.

On 1st November 1934 he joined the University Air Squadron and remained with it until 26th July 1936. After leaving Oxford Fox-Male qualified and practised as a solicitor.

He was called to full-time service with the RAFVR on 15th March 1940 and commissioned. He was posted to 7 EFTS Desford on 12th April to complete his elementary flying training.

He moved on to RAF College FTS at Cranwell on 10th June and with the course completed he went on to 7 OTU Hawarden on 7th September.

Having converted to Spitfires he joined 152 Squadron at Warmwell on 29th September 1940. Fox-Male left the squadron on 9th July 1941 to become an instructor at 59 OTU Crosby-on-Eden.

He returned to operations on 20th April 1942 when he was posted to 242 Squadron at Turnhouse. On 12th May he was sent for a course to the Pilot Gunnery Instructors Training Wing at CGS Sutton Bridge and afterwards rejoined 242, then at Drem

Fox-Male went with 242 Squadron to North Africa on 8th September 1942 and remained with it until 5th March 1943.

Released from the RAF in 1946 as a Flight Lieutenant, Fox-Male resumed his legal practice and was a partner in a firm of London solicitors when he retired to Guernsey in 1975.

Fox-Male died there on 1st April 1986.
