Stanley Albert Goodwin was born in 1921. He joined the RAFVR about May 1939 as an Airman u/t Pilot. Called up on 1st September, Goodwin carried out his elementary flying training at 18 EFTS Fairoaks.

He moved on to 5 FTS Sealand for No. 49 Course, which ran from 16th June to 7th September 1940. On 14th August Goodwin and Sgt. T W R Healy were flying Miles Masters when they collided. Healy managed to land and Goodwin baled out safely.

Goodwin went on to 7 OTU Hawarden on 7th September, converted to Spitfires and joined 266 Squadron at Martlesham Heath on 30th September, moving to 66 Squadron at Gravesend on 14th October.

He was posted away to 55 OTU Aston Down on 10th December 1940 as an instructor.

His subsequent service is currently undocumented until he was commissioned in December 1943.

Goodwin was released from the RAF in 1946 as a Flight Lieutenant.

He died on 7th March 1982.
