417 Squadron pilot
On March 16th 1945, Jack Weekes was assigned a mission to perform a railway cut in Northern Italy. In the midst of his dive bomb, Weekes suffered flak and was forced to land the spitfire in a nearby field. Posted as missing, Jack Weekes was interrogated for three weeks and transferred to Stalag VII-A as a POW. On April 30th 1945 the camp was liberated and he returned home to Canada.
Jack Weekes passed away on December 29th 2017 at the age of 95, his legacy lives on through his two children, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
