'Bud' ASSAD
From the National Archives AIR/27/25 2 Squadron SAAF ORB
03-Jan-45 Baled out POW
We were but a day or two into the New Year when we lost yet another pilot. This in such quick succession to our two losses at the previous
month end, came as a heavy blow.
Lt. A. Assad, who, although junior as a pilot, was very popular, was obliged to abandon his machine after attacking M.T. in the area NORTH COMACCHIO, on the 3rd. He was seen to land safely and it is hoped he may yet return through the lines as Lt. R.F. Bell, news of whom we received on the 26th., of the month.
