Flew Spitfires Mk VIII and MK IX on missions supporting troupe movements in Italy along Anzio and Cassino , Bomber escort duty ,scrambles and weather recce in the Italian theater . While on a weather recce his engine quit and he bailed out north west of Florence on Aug 10 1944. He stayed with Italian Partisans for 11 weeks and made it back to his lines . F.O. Locks survived the war .
