Thomas Benfield Lee was my uncle. He joined the RCAF in 1939 and flew Spitfires late in the war. He shot down a FW190 over Germany on April 20, 1945. I had to chance to meet him in Vancouver in 1986 or 87. Amazing guy, always joking. Me and my wife visited from Mexico. Uncle Tom showed me some things he brought back, among them was a German map, made of some kind of fabric, with the route the pilot flew to the west in order to surrender traced in blue ink.
