F/LT Alastair Donald Mackintosh “Sandy” Gunn was a member of the Photo Reconnaissance Unit and was shot down over Norway on 5th March 1942 and became a POW. He escaped from Stallag Luft III and was murdered by the Gestapo on 6th April 1944.

He was captured on 5 Mar 1942 after being shot down over Norway whilst flying in Spitfire IV, AA810 of the PRU, during a PR sortie to Trondheim but was executed by the Gestapo following The Great Escape from Stalag Luft III at Sagan on 24 Mar 1944. He is buried in Poznan Old Garrison Cemetery
