Paul Prendergast Devenish DFC

"DEVENISH, Paul Prendergast, A/S/L (80198, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve) - No.260 Squadron - Distinguished Flying Cross - awarded as per London Gazette dated 22 January 1943. Born 1916 in Cape Province, South Africa; home there; educated at Somerset West High School and Marist Brothers College, Roadebosch, Cape Province. Served as a Sapper in the South African Engineering Corps Active Citizen Force Reserve, 1933-36; enlisted in RAF in 1940; commissioned 1941. Public Record Office Air 2/9612 has citation, drafted when he had flown 198 operational hours. See also Air Ministry Bulletin 9037.
