Joined the Royal Air Force on 7th June 1941 at Stratford-on-Avon. initial traing at No 6 Initial Training Wing, Scarborough, Yorks . Posted for flying training on the (General) Arnold draft to the USA with the United States Army Air Force in August 1941.
