This pilot is buried in St.Peters little churchyard in Southease near to the town of Lewes in East Sussex. He was in 242 Squadron flying Hurricanes and he was shot up over the French coast but managed to limp home but he crashed near Chartham in Kent and died in hospital a couple of days later.

He was flying out of Stapleford Tawney in North Weald I think it was a Canadian Squadron. My question if permitted why was he buried in Sussex where we can find no connection to the area, nothing in the church records etc and wasn't he a little old to be flying frontline at the age of 41, This all took place on 26th April 1941.

Thanks Gerry, hopefully someone can fill in some of the story. Of note he was a Hurricane pilot, which is welcome, as in the early days of the site I made it quite clear to "please" add the Hurricane pilots also -- many pilots converted at some point as it is. Thanks again.
