P/O Norman Delaney arrived at 253 squadron 28-09-43

Crashed landed in Spitfire JK427 of 253 squadron 6th July 1944.

Two near misses did no apparent damage to the bridge south of Bugojno. 4 Spitfires then swept Bugojno's Livno road. A highly successful attack was made on 10 stationary camouflaged M.T's and yielded a total of 5 flamers and 3 damaged. Intense light accurate 20mm fire was experienced and F/O Delaney's aircraft was hit in what we believed the oil system. He crashed landed in the area XQ36 in mountainous country.
