Lieutenant 79781V, 249 (R.A.F.) Squadron, South African Air Force. Killed in action flying out of Foggia Main, Italy, in a Supermarine Spitfire VC, serial number JK532, when his aircraft was shot down by flak just off Durazzo when returning from a ground attack sortie to Albania, baled out over the sea but could not be recovered 30 March 1944.
