154 Squadron
Spitfire pilots Pilot Officer David Livingstone DFC, RNZAF (right) and an unknown RAAF pilot, enjoying a cup of tea while serving with No. 154 Squadron RAF.
Middle East Command, North Africa. 1943
Flight Lieutenant Livingstone is credited with six enemy aircraft destroyed and another shared. In addition to flying the Spitfire he also flew the Miles Master, Hawker Hurricane, Hawker Typhoon and Hawker Tempest V.
Livingstone's Distinguished Flying Cross citation reads:
"This officer has performed his duties as flight commander with skill and efficiency showing marked qualities of leadership and keeness to engage the enemy. Between January, 1944, and March, 1944, he destroyed three enemy aircraft, bringing his total victories to at least five. He has a long record of successful operations."
David Franklin Livingstone survived the war and passed away on 17th of May 1984.
