Full name: Ernest Eugene Owen IRISH

Wellington T.10 NC836 at Finningley airfield.
On 20th December 1951 the pilot of this No.101 Flying Refresher School aircraft raised the undercarriage too soon on take off at Finningley airfield. The aircraft sank toward the ground and the partly retracted undercarriage struck the ground which damaged it. Despite this the pilot managed to get airborne but later he made a landing at Finningley with the undercarriage retracted.

Pilot - F/Lt Irish (probably F/Lt Ernest Eugene Owen Irish RAF DFC (126541).

Ernest Irish was awarded the DFC for service with 80 Squadron, Gazetted on 13th February 1945.
