Ian Dawson died on 30th July 1942 when the Tangmere and Hornchurch wings were escorting Hurri-bombers on a big Ramrod over Cap Gris Nez and St. Omer. He is buried in the Dunkirk Town Cemetery.
It is likely that he was the victim of an Fw190 of JG26
He was 21 years old
