I am interested in all things 154, and can be contacted at dgarrett46 at outlook dot com
Sgt Whaley joined 154 in June 1942
He flew with the squadron Jun/Jul/Aug during its time at Hornchurch, but does not appear in the ORB thereafter
Later edit by David Garrett:
In fact he went to North Africa with 154 in Nov 42, but his flying record does not show due to the incomplete records during Operation Torch.
He was injured during a bad landing at Djidjelli on 11th Dec 42, where the grass airstrip was virtually unusable after the heavy winter rains. He was transferred to hospital in nearby Bougie, and did not fly again with 154.
However, he continued in a long wartime and postwar service with the RAF, being commissioned P/O 4/9/44, then promoted F/O 4/3/45 and F/Lt 18/10/52, eventually resigning his commission 21/6/58
