Sgt Pilot Brosteaux was with the 3 Regiment of Aéronautique Militaire Belge when the country was invaded.
Having flown in France he was patriated to Belgium on 20 August 1940 - from where he escaped to Portugal on 1st June 1942.
Joseph Brosteaux arrived in the UK on 20 August 1942. He enlisted to the RAFVR as P/O and trained at: 5 PAFU (19 November 1942), AFU (23 December 1942) andOTU (9 February 1943). Posted to 350 Squadron on April 6th 1943, he was promoted to F/O on 16 May 1943. Rested and posted to RAF Belgian Depot, 5 November 1944 on promotion to F/Lt on 16 November 1944, where he stayed for the rest of the hostilities. Joseph Brosteaux died on March 23, 1986.
