Albert 'Droske' Drossaert (RAF n° 103480) was seriously wounded on 11th May at Schaffen, during the German invasion of the Low Countries. Escaping from Belgium on 1st February 1941, he arrived in England on 20 July1941, and joined the RAFVR on 23 August 1941. After a refresh course he was sent to 53OTU at Heston. He was then posted to 501 Sqn on October 6th, 1941. On 2 September 1942 Albert Drossaert was posted to 350 (BE) Sqn. Several postings saw him with 171 Sqn ( 15 December 1942), 9 Receiving Center (4 January 1943) and 349 (BE) Sqn(23 January 1943). However, a long period of health problems saw him retired from operational flying and frontline duties.

He was demobilized on March 9, 1946, and subsequently joined SABENA. Dossaert died in a Plane crash (Sabena DC-4 OO-CGB) 18 September 1946, at Gander, New Foundland, Canada.
