Emile 'Milo' Plas was a pupil at the Flying School of the Aé Mil when War broke out. He was evacuated to France and then - following the the French capitulation - to Oujda, Morocco, . From there he escaped to Great Britain where he arrived on August 5th 1940. Here he enlisted in the Volunteer Reserve of the RAF (14 August 1940), and was sent to continue his flying training: 13EFTS - Peterborough (8 November 1940), 5 SFTS (2 April 1941) and 58 OTU (10 July1941).Posted in to 131 Sqn (30 August 1941).
Emile 'Milo' Plas joined the newly formed 350 (BE) Sqn (on 17 November 1941) and finally flew with 610 Sqn (March 13th 1943).
He died in combat on 28 March 1943.
