Sgt Ewart flew with 154 Sqn in North Africa
He first appears in the ORB on 13th Dec 42, which would indicate that he probably came over from the UK with the squadron for the Torch landings in early November, but the records for the period are incomplete.
He flew with the squadron through the North African campaign in Algeria & Tunisia, and then on to Malta after the Axis surrender.
He was commissioned P/O 2nd July 43
The squadron moved on to Sicily, where he failed to return from a patrol over the beachead at Salerno on 10th Sept
He is commemorated by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission at the El Alamein memorial, Egypt
