Battle of Britain Memorial Needs Your Help!

As you can read in telegraph article linked below, the Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel Le Ferne (Dover) is at risk of closure due to lack of support, not from visitors, but from a lack of UK museum funding that other tier 1 installations like this actually get. Because it is a "memorial" it does not qualify for these national museum grants, which is a shame.

Our chief editor Kevin Charles, and I -- visited Capel Ferne on Sept 15, 2019 -- on Battle of Britain day, and we were so lucky to watch the Spitfire flypast, service, and full tour of the "memorial" which I would actually say is as as good if not better than many a museum in that they have an interactive full 3D animated recreation of a Battle of Britain airfield and battle at full sound.

Such an important memorial reminding us today of the struggle against fascism, in this case by those who stood up (or flew) to fight it in WWII, as allied nations sent their pilots some with as little as a few hours of training in a Hurricane or Spitfire. And so at this memorial, you see a pilot (rank intentionally left off) sitting and staring out over the cliffs of Dover, where, many an aerial battle occurred. So if you can, please make a donation, plan a visit, or write your member of parliament to request they get the funding they deserve. This is a wonderful location, with a library, an observation deck and cafe, some sample aircraft, a memorial wall (where I left an airmen's badge my uncle gave me), and so much more including that animation room. And when I was there in 2019, yes, on September 15 just a few days from now -- I'd ask you if you have enjoyed this site, please, if you can, make the pilgrimage on that day, a key day in the Battle of Britain itself. And then take a moment and contemplate as you look over the cliffs of Dover. Perhaps it will inspire you in some way as the world heads into a period of major upheaval. A must visit, a must memorial.
