There is a lot of discussion on online forums as to which plane he was actually flying. The person writing the ORB seems to have transposed digits in the Serial Numbers on a regular basis.
In the ORB the entry for 1941-05-06 mentions: Sgt. Arnott P7289
This is likely to actually be P7928 which corresponds to the title for the photograph in the Nigel Franks book "Fighter Commands Air War, 1941: RAF Circus Operations and Fighter Sweeps". See "Photo of P7928" link opposite
Pilot was shot down in 1941 and spent the next years in POW camps. On the infamous march (or POWs) at the end of the war, he managed to escape, and the article to the right describes how a disabled German man gave him and his comrades women's clothes, which they then used in their successful escape through to France, where they met a Canadian tank crew.
