He was killed whilst flying in DH84 Dragon, A34-65 of No 2 Air Depot, Richmond, which spun in near Mt. Druitt, New South Wales whilst attempting a forced-landing during a transit flight following engine problems. He is buried in Richmond War Cemetery.
