Frederick Meakin joined 54 Squadron RAF on 17th November 1943

He was killed whilst flying in Spitfire LF VIII, A58-390 (ex JG465) of No 54 Sqn, which crashed near Hughes Strip after striking tree tops whilst banking at low level shortly after taking off from Livingstone Strip. He is buried in Adelaide River War Cemetery.
