He was in Course No. 51 (March 14 – July 13, 1942) at No. 2 SFTS – Uplands.
According to the 443 Squadron ORB, on 13 January (1944), Flt Lt Fairfield was forced to bale out near Liege when his engine failed after being damaged by flak. (See link to RAF Commands, re: date)
