W/C R Marples (145 Wing) Spitfire whilst returning from a fighter sweep to Mons and in cloud, collided with Spitfire MK346 of 329 Squadron piloted by Sgt-Chef C.A. Alligier..
Sgt-Chef C.A. Alligier was able to force land, at Wappington Farm, Horsham but unfortunately W/C R Marples was killed.
