Flight Sergeant 1252138, 73 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Country of service United Kingdom. Flying out of La Sebala II, Tunisia, in a Hawker Hurricane IIC HM135, with 5 other Hurricanes for a special mission from Malta.

Today six of our pilots led by F/Lt Wells flying Hurricanes proceeded to Malta. The detachment which was pilots and aircraft only, is expected to be away only for a few days. They will carry out a very important job. The other five pilots are F/Lt Mills, P/O Marsh, P/O Martain, F/Sgt Bramley & F/Sgt Edward's.

Operating from Malta strafing searchlights and A.A positions (Biscari, comiso) in the landing areas S.W Sicily. When about 15 miles North of Malta on his return, he was heard transmitting the destress call. That's the last we heard from him. His aircraft was lost without trace 9 July 1943.
F/Sgt C.J.A Edwards also missing but found in a dinghy and picked up.
