John Hallings-Pott took command of No. 25 Squadron in Jan 1939 which was equiped with Gladiators and later Blenheims and received one of the first DSO's of WW2 awarded to a RAF-officer.
During the war he held positions a Officer Commanding, RAF Northolt and Officer Commanding, RAF Biggin Hill.
He ended his career as Air Officer Commander No. 2 Group in 1956.
Took part in the dusk raid by 12 Blenheims of 25 and 601 squadron on the German seaplane base at Borkum on 28th November 1939.
