Started as instructor. Went on operations July 14 1944 with RCAF 442 Squadron in France. Ended war flying Mustangs and escorting bombers. Registered 2.5 kills. Stayed in RCAF . Served in UN Peacekeeping. Closed 3 Wing Zweibrucken Air base in 1969 as last CO. Retired as Wing Commander. Last post was Director of Canex, Ottawa. Both brothers- in- law KIA . One as a fighter pilot (shot down over the English Channel in 1942). Other shot down as a tail gunner in a Lancaster Bomber in 1944 over France. Mother- in- law was the Silver Cross Mother for Canada in 1990.
