Service No: J29101
Philip John McNAIR
12th April 1945 (MK859)
However on the second show the Squadron suffered a setback by losing F/O.P.J.McNAIR (CAN.J.29101). He was hit by flak over the target and lost all elevator control but managed to keep the a/c airborne, although he could not stop it from climbing.
He was last seen by S/LDR.DANIEL of 145 Squadron, about 9000' over CERVIA aerodrome flying straight and level, and then rolling over and spinning down into the sea. During the afternoon three A.S.R. searches were made before our fears were confirmed. F/O McNAIR was posted 'Missing Believed Killed'.
