I have read website noting William Henry Nelson F/O was an American in the RAF.
At the same time I have found detailed information about his early life and schooling in Montreal, Canada. Does anyone know irrefutably if he was a Canadian or an American?

He was indeed a Canadian, from Montreal. He was the only Canadian Spitfire ace in the Battle of Britain. He was a bomber pilot before volunteering to retrain as a fighter pilot in June 1940.
My biography of him has just been published by Pen & Sword.
