Operations commenced early and continued throughout the day. WO1 McKinnon became a casualty as a result of a high speed stall on completion of a straffing run.

From Toronto, Ontario. Killed in Action Mar 6/45. #417 City of Windsor Squadron (Supporting Liberty And Justice). P/O McKinnon’s Spitfire aircraft #MT 625 went into a high speed stall after strafing a barge in the Latisana area of Italy. He was killed when his aircraft crashed and burned thirteen miles south-west of Latisana. Pilot Officer Pilot McKinnon is buried in the Padua War Cemetery, Italy.
