ACOTT, William Ronald, F/L (43473, Royal Air Force) - No.1 Photo Reconnaissance Unit - Distinguished Flying Cross - awarded as per London Gazette dated 4 December 1942. Public Record Office Air 2/9606 has citation drafted when he had flown 71 sorties in two tours (450 hours in first tour alone).
"Since February 1942 this officer has commanded a flight and has completed a number of successful missions over Norway. He has also taken part in some long operational sorties in Mosquito aircraft. Flight Lieutenant Acott has always shown great keenness in his work and has set a very fine example to all in his flight."
