Pilot Officer Claert was 36 years of age, had served with the Belgian Air Force from 1924 to 1940 and began his escape to this country {UK} in February 1941, walking through France and Spain to Lisbon. Before joining PRU on 15th September 1942 he had completed 66 hours operational flying with a Fighter Squadron and an Air Sea Rescue Squadron. He had shown outstanding ability, keenness and courage as a PR Pilot, and his loss is a severe one.
On Nov 11, 1942, Between 12:50 and 12:52 hours two messages were received indicating that he had been shot down by enemy fighters in the Caen - Le Havre area.
