Robert James (Buck) BUCKLES
The link on the right (FFYL - a great site on pilots) has extensive material on Bob Buckles, with lots of pics. With the RCAF, he was shot down (or had engine trouble) and became a POW, just a few miles from the camp where the Great Escape occurred. Per the link on the right, he survived the war and lived in Ottawa along with various other postings overseas (Lahr) finally settling in Ottawa and working for the DOT (transport)
The other link to the right is his obituary, RJ passed only recently in July of 2016, more insight into who he was is provided there.

Used by No. 401 (F) Squadron, RCAF from late 1943. Shot down by a Ju88 near Ellignies-Saint-Anne, Belgium on 20 December 1943. F/O R.J. Buckles bailed out, POW. Had 138:15 logged time when struck off.
