Kenneth V. WILLIAMS enlisted in the RAAF on the 21st July 1940 in Melbourne. He then completed his initial flying training in Australia before being shipped out to Canada and England. When he arrived in England, he learnt to fly Spitfires at 57 OTU (Operational Training Unit) before being posted to 457 Squadron as a founding member in June 1941.

Kenneth remained with the Squadron until August 1941 and then he was posted to 452 Squadron, which at that time was based at RAF Kenley, where it was part of No.11 Group RAF. 452 Squadron was the first Australian Squadron to be formed in Britain during the Second World War.

Kenneth was killed when he crashed on the 7th September 1941. He had collided with another Spitfire, flown by 402120 Sergeant J.N. Hanigan (/explore/people/630930), when he was carrying out dummy attacks during training.

Kenneth is remembered at a war graves site at St Lukes Church, Whyteleafe, just near RAF Kenley." SOURCE (www.spitfireassociation.com.au)
