Georges "Naff" Deltour joined the Aéronautique Militaire Belge as a trainee pilot on 4 September 1939. When Belgium was invaded on 10 May 1940 the Flying School was evacuated to Oujda, Morocco. After the capitulation of France, most of the trainees escaped to Great Britain - where Deltour arrived on 15 July 1940.
Enlisted to the RAFVR on 20 July 1940 and joined the EFTS, November 7th, 1940. Deltour was Promoted LAC February 17, 1941 and commissioned P/O 6 July 1941. He joined 58 OTU, 10 July 1941 and was posted to flying duties (131 Sqn) on 26 August.
On 17 November,1941, 'Naff" Deltour transferred to the newly formed 350 (Belgian) Squadron on 17 November. The squadron diary noted the following:
"12/11/1941 - Official creation of 350 (Belgian) Squadron at Valley. The following pilots are transferred from 131 (County of Kent) Squadron: S/Ldr J. Thompson, H. Gonay (Fl/Co), X. Menu, E. Plas, H. Smets, G. Deltour, A. Plisnier, G. Seydel, J. Ester, L. Harmel, R. De Wever, H. Picard, G. Livijns and J. Depuysseleyr who will leave the Squadron a few days later, joining the Aerial Reconnaissance."
Further promotions to F/O on 3 July 1942 and F/Lt (WSR) on 6 July 1943 followed. Following operations with 350 (BE) squadron he was posted to: 2 Flying Instructor School (09/02/1944); RAF College (03/05/1944); 5 PAFU (30/06/1944) and, finally, the Belgian Training School (09/04/1945).
After the War, Georges Deltour joined SABENA. He died 19 January 2005
